ManpowerGroup R&D Project in Shakopee, Minnesota

Our client, a leading food manufacturer in Shakopee, MN is seeking a dedicated Product Developer to lead Product Development (PD) initiatives in line with their business strategy. This role is essential for creating innovative snack, baked goods, and nutrition bar products, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to drive successful product commercialization and revenue growth.

Job Title: Product Developer

Department: Research and Development

Pay Range: $32-$40 per hour

Location: Shakopee, MN

Days/Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday

3/4-month temporary project.

What’s the job:

  • Identify and evaluate food trends to support business vision and customer strategy.

  • Develop new and innovative fresh and frozen foods for CPG and Convenience channels.

  • Lead commercialization projects, including full-scale plant trials and pre-trial meetings.

  • Proactively interact with customers, prospects, and colleagues to keep projects on track.

  • Manage multiple projects and activities within the R&D Department to achieve department objectives.

What’s needed:

  • General food technology, bakery application, ingredient functionality, and formulation.

  • Autonomous R&D project management.

  • Building customer confidence and providing effective follow-through.

  • Leading a large development function and strategic planning.

  • Creating and delivering professional presentations.

  • Supervise and lead all customer-related requirements in R&D.

  • Proficiency in: MS Word, Excel, formula database, Genesis, raw material costing, and inventory.

  • B.S. in Food Sci, Food Engr., Chem. Engr, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in food product development/production.

  • 5-7 years of experience in R&D or related environment.

  • Industry experience leading a large development function.

  • Proven track record of presenting and networking in product development.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted in a lab setting but may involve travel to pilot and production facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at a workstation for extended periods.

  • Standing while creating product samples in R&D and on the plant floor.

  • Occasional lifting to 25 pounds.
