Professional Nurse- Journey (Contract to Hire) - University Research Hospital

Job Summary:

A leading University Research Hospital (University) is seeking a Professional Nurse- Journey (Contract to Hire) to join our team in the Psychiatry department.

Job Description:

  • Provide nursing functions for patients served by an assertive community treatment (ACT) team.

  • Manage and supervise medication administration to patients in their homes and other settings under the direction of the team psychiatrist.

  • Provide case management services for an assigned group of patients, including planning, developing, and monitoring services and supports as outlined in the patient's treatment plan.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN

  • Minimum 3 years of education after high school

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a mental health setting

  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with patients and respect their rights and treatment preferences

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI)

  • Working knowledge of psychiatric medications and side effects

  • Previous experience on an ACT team

Benefits:

  • Flexible work schedule available (occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays)

  • Hourly rate of $23.20 with a standard workweek of 40 hours

Note:

This position is non-exempt and requires occasional evening, weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime work. Patient care is involved.
