Job Title: Senior Engineering Project Manager

Location: Houston, TX

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Project Management

  • Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders

  • Developing detailed project plans that outline specific engineering tasks, timelines, and resource allocations.

  • Coordinating cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and technical staff to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Managing project budgets, including cost estimation, budget tracking, and financial reporting

  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues throughout the project life cycle

  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, gather feedback, and make informed decisions.

  • Facilitating problem-solving and decision-making processes to address technical challenges.

  • Meet regularly with project team members to stay on top of all project items; update everyone on status, identify any potential blocking issues and collaboratively develop creative solutions to overcome them.

  • Create timely project status reports by investigating, analyzing, and summarizing project elements and any relevant factors impacting schedules (e.g. scope creep, budget overruns, changed requirements)

  • Conducting post-project evaluation to identify successful elements and areas for improvement for future projects.

  • Continuously updating project documentation and maintaining accurate records for all project-related information

  • Leading and motivating project teams, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative work environment.

  • Work with customers to ensure successful operation of new and ongoing projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical preferred, can have Mechanical or Electrical)

  • Minimum 10 years of project engineering or project management experience in the chemical industry.

  • Experience running multiple projects and/or large projects up to $50 million in value.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to successful project completion.

  • PMP ® certification preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience using project management software applications and technologies.

  • Experience with project budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Team player; strong bias toward collaboration

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Project, and SharePoint, and Aspen a plus.

  • Work well with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and insulation disciplines. Basic understanding of civil and structural requirements of a project.

  • Experience with batch and continuous reactions, distillation, filtration, bulk chemical storage, OSHA PSM regulations.
