ManpowerGroup Product Development Engineer in Germantown, Wisconsin

Our client, an HVAC/refrigeration design/development company, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join their team. As a Product Development Engineer, you will be part of the Design Engineering Team supporting production. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in new product development, design, design team leadership and a familiarity with project management. Equipment background should be in HVAC and refrigeration design for commercial and industrial applications. Strong consideration will be given to candidates local to SE WI/Milwaukee, WI area market. This is a direct hire role.

Job Title: Product Development Engineer-HVAC

Location: Germantown, WI

Pay: $85-$95K annually plus benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new equipment in the airside HVAC space, as either an evolution of an existing platform, or an entirely new platform.

  • Direct design responsibility for the spectrum of mechanical engineering tasks associated with the design of a new HVAC product, including refrigeration component selection, fan selection, heat exchanger selection, control sequence, and cabinet design.

  • Perform mechanical engineering tasks either autonomously or as part of a team, depending on project needs.

  • Coordinate the activities performed by other departments, like Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Production and Testing.

  • Follows the Stage Gate Process and coordinates with other stakeholders to ensure appropriate engagement throughout a project.

Requirements

  • Understands how a new product fits into the business plan and makes design decisions that align. Identifies potential design decisions where alignment with the plan is not in the business’s best interest and involves the appropriate stakeholders to review.

  • Communicates ideas to the organization, including Sales and Production.

  • Identifies opportunities to give the business a competitive edge. Researches competition, assesses differences in competitive offering, identifies when a development may be patentable.

  • Develops production documentation to support initial manufacture of the new product.

  • Engineering degree in addition to 3+ years’ experience with HVAC, refrigeration system design
