Title: Data & Technology Specialist

Location: Charlotte NC- Onsite

Duration: Full-Time

Our local Charlotte client is seeking a dedicated Data and Technology Specialist to join our team. We are looking for someone who is passionate, results-oriented, and ready to play a crucial role in maximizing the effectiveness of our grantmaking efforts. The primary responsibilities will involve technology planning and data management for our core business systems. Additionally, the role’s responsibilities significantly impact all areas of the organization and ensure that mission-critical systems run effectively and are maintained accurately. As part of the Information Management team, you'll serve as a superuser supporting our CRM system (Salesforce) and collaborate closely with the Research and Evaluation team to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Data : Assist in creating a robust and compliant data management framework. Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation team to align data management with organizational needs.

  • Data Oversight and Management: Supervise collection, storage, and organization of data from diverse sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity through quality checks.

  • Governance and Compliance: Collaborate to establish policies for data governance, ownership, and access permissions, ensure compliance with legal regulations, and conduct regular audits.

  • Lifecycle Management: Develop and implement data archiving and deletion strategies, document policies, and inform staff on best practices for managing data throughout its lifecycle.

Technology: Contribute to successfully planning, implementing, and optimizing technology solutions within the organization.

  • Technology Assessment: Continuously evaluate current technology infrastructure for strengths and weaknesses.

  • Solution Research and Evaluation: Identify and assess technology options to meet business needs, anticipating future requirements.

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Evaluate the costs and benefits of technology implementations for informed decision-making.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in technology implementation, including security and compliance.

Interpersonal: Enhance data management by fostering collaboration, policy adherence, efficiency, risk mitigation, and employee empowerment for overall success.

  • Data Management Collaboration: Work closely with the Salesforce Administrator to maintain secure and organized data aligned with organizational goals.

  • Training Framework Development: Establish a comprehensive training program for staff on data-related topics and best practices, delivering office-wide policies through various formats, including presentations, reports, and one-on-one sessions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

The Data and Technology Specialist role requires a diverse skill set encompassing technical proficiency, analytical thinking, effective project management, and strong interpersonal abilities. These essential skills enable the specialist to adeptly manage data, technology, and projects in alignment with organizational objectives and compliance standards.

  • Degree or certification in computer science, information technology, data science, or a related field preferred. Salesforce Administrator certification is preferred, or other Salesforce-related certifications are a plus.

  • Certification in relevant technologies or methodologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Certified Information Professional) is a plus.

  • Three to five years work experience as a data analyst, database administrator, or similar role, with a track record of successful projects and achievements in data management and technology.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa.

  • Proficient in overseeing data collection, validation, storage, organization, and establishing governance policies for compliance and lifecycle management.

  • Skilled in analyzing technology infrastructure, identifying solutions, and evaluating them for cost-effectiveness and risk mitigation.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive plans, oversee implementation, monitor effectiveness, and manage risks related to technology projects.

  • Experienced in evaluating vendors, leading collaborations with consultants, communicating effectively, and collaborating with teams to ensure data integrity and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and resiliency to overcome setbacks.

  • Strong personal integrity, curiosity, and humility to learn about and from others.

  • Demonstrated high commitment to service and a passion for driving the Foundation's mission and values.

  • The position requires a full-time, on-site presence at our office in Charlotte, NC. Permanent remote work options are not available.
