We're looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer who is passionate about process improvement and cost reduction, while ensuring high-quality products and safety standards. If you have a strong background in CNC machining and a keen interest in woodworking and high-end craftsmanship, we are interested in speaking with you about a rare opening at our client's facility in Auburn, Maine.

The role of the Manufacturing Process Engineer will be to introduce products to manufacturing through solid modeling and the use of state-of-the-art, large format 5 axis CNC router machining centers. An integral part of this is working closely with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure that products meet the highest quality standards while being aesthetically pleasing and manufactured efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine CNC machining programs for various furniture components, ensuring precise and efficient manufacturing.

  • Proficiently develop CAD models using advanced tools within Solid Edge, and transition into CAM (MasterCAM & SmartPro/EasyWood) for programing on CNC machines.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency.

  • Establish rigorous quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to maintain the highest level of product quality.

  • Collaborate with materials sourcing teams to choose the most suitable materials for furniture manufacturing, considering both performance and sustainability.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to CNC machining and furniture making, integrate them into our manufacturing processes.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and R&D, to ensure seamless product development and successful project completion.

  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and hands-on experience with CNC machines.

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Knowledge of furniture design principles, materials, and construction techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
